Why does a grille for the same model not fit?
The grille mounts to the bumper frame and usually has sensor openings. With a facelift the manufacturer often moves the clip positions or changes the bumper shape, so the previous year's grille will not fit even on the same model
Another common case is the same model with a different trim package: the factory sport package uses a different bumper from the standard car, so the grille is different too. Checking the year alone is not enough
Sensors and cameras: ask before you buy
Many new cars have the adaptive cruise radar behind the grille, and some have cameras or parking sensors in the same area. A grille without the openings blocks them, so the driver-assistance systems warn or shut down
So before ordering, say whether the car has radar and whether it is a top or standard trim, so the grille with the right openings is chosen from the start instead of cutting holes later, which never looks clean
Grille materials
ABS is the main material for most grilles because it reproduces the original shape accurately and is easy to repaint. Carbon is used for frames or fins for looks and weight, but costs far more and is harder to repair when scratched
If you want it painted to match the car, tell the shop when ordering, because paintwork on a grille needs different surface preparation from normal body panels
